What will happen if I do not apply for visa extension on time?
In case you are overdue for a few days, the penalty will be calculated by the day. Penalties will certainly apply to those who stay in Vietnam more than their visa validity rules.
Anyone who intentionally commits repeated crimes over a long period of time, without respect for the law, the level of punishment may include administrative penalties, restrictions on Vietnamese immigration and deportation.
The following are fines introduced from social networks and unofficial sources:
+ In case of exceeding the maximum penalty of 10 days: VND 1,250,000 (USD 55) is a common penalty.
+ In case of overdue up to 1 month: 4,000,000 VND (175 USD) is a common penalty.
+ In case of overdue from 1 to 3 months: a fine of about 10,000,000 VND (440 USD)
+ In case of one year overdue: the penalty is more than 16,000,000 VND (700 USD) and forced to exit, restrict entry and exit for a specified period of time.
